HOUSTON — When the 47th season of Survivor starts on Sept. 18, Houston will have a competitor to rally behind.
Meet 32-year-old Houston IT consultant Aysha Welch.
Heading into the game, the DeSoto, Texas, native said she's going to rely on her ability to create strong relationships to survive.
"That's what's going to carry me through the game," Aysha said. "If I see someone that seems unapproachable, they seem impossible to work with, I'm going to want to make it happen because I'm going to feel that personal satisfaction that I was able to win them over."
The contestant also said she hopes to become an inspiration for other girls like she was inspired by previous competitors.
"I saw people like Maryanne, Kanchana, Katurah. Seeing someone like me and thinking, 'Wait, if they could do it, I could do it.,'" she said. "If I could do that for some other girl out there, I think that's inspiring."

The season kicks off with a two-hour episode on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. Central Time with 90-minute weekly episodes in the weeks following. Tune in all season to see who will bring home the $1 million prize.
