HOUSTON — A Midtown restaurant that’s been in business for more than four decades is closing its doors.

The full message is below.

Dear Houston Community,

After 41 years of services, we at Damian’s Cucina Italiana sadly announce our closing effective August 17, 2024. We would like to thank our loyal customers for your outpouring of support and comradery. We would like to thank our amazing staff, which is also our family, for all of their hard work and dedication.

Customers commented on the post, one saying, "Not my favorite Italian restaurant closing down!"  Another saying “So sad. This has been our Christmas Eve dinner home for many years!"

As for why they're closing, they said they never fully recovered from losing business during COVID. They also said while their costs have increased, more business meetings and presentations that used to happen in the restaurant are being done remotely.
