HOUSTON — Luis Ortiz is an Emmy-award winning sports anchor, reporter and multi-skilled journalist and joined the KHOU 11 team in July 2024.
Luis was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, and has called Houston home since he was nine years old. He graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism . As a bilingual journalist, he’s done work in both English and Spanish TV and has been covering Houston sports since 2019.
Luis is new to golfing and has really enjoyed playing the sport. He also loves going to the gym, hiking, yoga and cycling. He enjoys cooking and checking out coffee shops. His music taste ranges from house, reggaeton, jazz, acoustic covers and Spanish music.
Luis can’t choose a favorite sport and really enjoys, baseball, football, soccer, boxing, F1, basketball, golf and tennis.
