Shoplifting suspects with baby attack Kroger workers who confronted them, Houston police say

HPD is trying to identify the man and woman who pushed the worker and threw something at her when she told them they had to pay for the items.

HOUSTON — Houston police are hoping someone will recognize a pair of shoplifting suspects who attacked a Kroger employee when she confronted them. 

The robbery happened on the morning of Oct. 13, 2023 at a store on West 43rd Street near Ella. That's in the Oak Forest area of northwest Houston. 

The whole thing was caught on surveillance video. 

According to HPD's Robbery Division, the man and woman, who had a baby with them, were in a self-checkout lane when the clerk noticed they were putting items in bags that they hadn't paid for. 

She confronted them and told them they needed to pay for the items. That's when the guy pushed her and threw something at her.

Two other employees came over to find out what was going on, the woman hit one of them. 

They left with the stolen items and drove off in a red Nissan four-door sedan, according to HPD. 

Both were wearing white shirts and black pants. He had on a ballcap and had several tattoos on his arms.

The Houston Police Department’s Robbery Division needs the public's assistance identifying the suspects responsible for a shoplifting turned robbery with bodily force. On Friday, October 13, 2023 at around 9:00 am, an unknown male and female entered a grocery store, located at the 1300 block of the W. 43rd, in Houston, Texas. As the male and female were checking out at the self-checkout area of the store, an employee noticed that they were not paying for several items and placing them into the bags. The employee confronted the suspects and told them that they needed to pay for all of the items. The male then pushed the employee and threw an item at her. Both suspects then walked out of the store with the unpaid merchandise and fled in a red Nissan four-door sedan. Houston PD #1470281-23 Suspect description: Black male, white shirt and black pants.
