Three people are recovering from gunshot injuries after a suspected road rage incident on the Southwest Freeway early Friday, according to police.

HOUSTON — A 42-year-old Houston man was arrested in connection with a shooting that left one man dead and two others injured during an incident on the Southwest Freeway, according to the Houston Police Department.

According to court documents, Oscar Vasquez-Guzman is charged with murder in the shooting death of Otarion Lomax. He was arrested on Tuesday.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The video above is from the report on the original incident before the announcement that the victim had died and the suspect had been arrested.

HPD will hold a press conference at 2:30 p.m. to address this arrest and another involving roadway shootings in Houston. You can stream it on KHOU.com and on the KHOU 11+ app on Roku, FireTV and Apple TV.

The arrest stems from an incident that happened around 12:30 a.m. Friday near the Hillcroft area of the Southwest Freeway. Police said a car with four people inside was coming from the Humble area after a night of bowling.

Police said a Toyota Tundra that had been tailgating them pulled up next to them. They both lowered their car windows and then the driver of the Tundra pulled out a pistol and fired.

Lomax, 19, was hit in his head while two women in the car – one 19 and one 18 – were also shot, police said. One was hit in her foot and one in her knee.

There was a driver in the car who was not hit. He took them all to a hospital.

Lomax was taken to surgery in critical condition but later died, police said. HPD was called once the victims arrived at the hospital.
