When the 35-year-old woman stepped out of the truck, another unidentified vehicle pulled up and opened fire, hitting the mother, deputies said.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A mother was shot in front of her infant daughters and husband while coming from a grocery store Friday night, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff’s office said deputies responded just after 10 p.m. to a call of a shooting on Sandy Meadow Drive.

Investigators said the victims had just arrived home after going to the grocery store. The victim’s husband was driving their truck with their two infant daughters in the backseat.

When the 35-year-old woman stepped out of the truck, another unidentified vehicle pulled up and opened fire, hitting the mother, deputies said.

The woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The husband told deputies that there was no foul play leading up to the shooting and that road rage was not likely. Right now, deputies do not have a description of the shooter’s vehicle.
