POLK COUNTY, Texas — A mandatory evacuation order was put in place Monday for some Polk County residents who live along the Trinity River.
Mandatory evacuations were issued for residents in the unincorporated areas of Polk County living along the Trinity River and low-lying areas below the Lake Livingston Dam.
This evacuation order came just hours after heavy rain caused flooding in low-lying areas and roadways throughout the county.
The order said the Trinity River Authority had significantly increased discharge from the Lake Livingston Dam and the discharge was expected to increase "which could exacerbate flooding in the low-lying areas along the Trinity River and below the dam."
The county is also concerned about the possibility of more rain this week which could make roads impassable.
"First responders may not be able to reach these residents should conditions worsen," the order said.
