HOUSTON — The death toll associated with Hurricane Beryl continues to climb. The deaths are both from the heat because people have been without power and accidents during the cleanup.
The most recent deaths, according to the Harris County medical examiner’s office, include 75-year-old James Butcher from Pasadena, who died from hyperthermia, and Houstonians Bryan Taylor, 66, and Pamela Jarrett, 64.
There are deaths as a result of cleanup accidents as well.

Tomas Vergara, 59, died on Friday after he fell off a ladder in his backyard while cutting branches from a tree. William Correras, 54, also died while trimming tree damage left by Hurricane Beryl.
“I still can’t even wrap my head around it yet,” said Eduardo Vergara, Tomas Vergara's son.
Eduardo Vergara was in the backyard helping his dad with the cleanup on Friday morning. He says his father was on a ladder cutting the limbs from a tree when he fell.
“I heard that he wasn’t breathing. I was on the phone with 911,” he said. “I started CPR, but…”
Tomas Vergara’s wife wants to tell those who are cutting trees to always be very careful because you never know what could happen.
