HOUSTON — Hurricane Beryl has many in the Houston area without food and water as well as without power.
According to Council Member Tiffany D. Thomas’ Office, District F will be holding a water and food distribution drive on Wednesday, beginning at 10 a.m. and until supplies run out.
They will be distributing 420 cases of water and 22 pallets of food from the Houston Food Bank.
The water and food distribution event will ensure that affected families and individuals receive essential bottled water to meet their immediate needs after Beryl.
A Heat Advisory has been in effect since Tuesday and continues to Wednesday with feels-like temperatures reaching 106.
"We are prepared for this moment, not panicked. I have worked with these organizations since 2021 to ensure we could respond with a coordinated plan after any federally declared disaster—in multiple languages—whether it's food, water, or social services,” Thomas said in a release. “We have a master plan, and it's working."
According to the release, Council Member Thomas, Alief ISD, West Houston Assistance Ministries, Houston Food Bank, Houston ToolBank, Heads Up Houston, Bethel's Heavenly Hands, and the Church Without Walls on Eldridge will oversee the distribution process to ensure that resources are delivered efficiently and equitably,
