HOUSTON, Minn. — Traffic troubles and long lines may leave to short tempers this week at both Houston airports in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.

Houston Airports warned travelers who are flying out of Bush Intercontinental or Hobby Airport or picking someone up to leave plenty of time to get there. Street closures, debris in roads and streetlights that aren't working are creating more than the usual traffic headaches.

Once there, expect long lines at both airports because of storm-related staff shortages.

"While our airport is open, just like so many Houstonians, many of our employees are unable to get to work today," Bush IAH posted on X.

They also shared a photo showing dozens of people waiting to go through the TSA lines.

Check-in lines are also long and concessions and other services are limited.

Many flights were canceled or delayed on Monday and Tuesday so check with your airline before you head to the airport.

Airlines are rebooking passengers flying out of Houston between July 7, 2024, and July 9, 2024, at no additional cost to the passenger.
