HOUSTON — The Atlantic Hurricane season is beginning again and here in Texas, that means residents along the Gulf Coast and points inland need to be prepared. Here are some facts about hurricane season in Texas and some links to make sure you're ready. When is hurricane season?
Hurricane season begins on June 1 and runs through November 30.
How active is the Atlantic Hurricane Season expected to be?
Both NOAA and Colorado State University have posted their May forecasts for the Atlantic Hurricane Season. Both are calling for a very active season. But always remember – whether an active season or not – it just takes one to devastate a community so you should be prepared either way.

When is the peak of hurricane season?
According to the National Hurricane Center, the peak of hurricane season is on September 10. Most activity occurs between mid-August and mid-October.

We start with Alberto and Beryl and go through Valerie and William if it gets that far. And if more storm names are needed, there’s a plan for that.
