HOUSTON — At least one person was killed by a falling tree as Hurricane Beryl moved into Southeast Texas Monday morning.
It happened in the Kings River Village subdivision, which is along Kings River Road east of West Lake Houston Parkway in northeast Harris County.
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, a man was with his family riding out the storm when an oak tree came crashing down on the house. It hit the rafters and then the man.
His wife and children were not harmed.
Hurricane Beryl moved into Southeast Texas on Monday morning, making landfall near Matagorda as a Category 1 storm.
