HOUSTON — Heading into the busiest travel week of the year, you might want to pay attention to the weather forecast because changes are on the way for Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving week, two storm systems will sweep across the U.S. and bring cooler temperatures and rain chances for some, including Houston.
However, if you are getting an early start to your travel plans this weekend, the weather is expected to remain pleasant across Texas. An area of high pressure will keep skies sunny and temperatures pleasant through much of the weekend. Afternoon temperatures will gradually warm back into the 80s with the return of humidity by Sunday and Monday.
On Monday evening, our first of two cold fronts will sweep through Southeast Texas bringing slightly cooler temperatures for Tuesday. This front will be rather weak a chance of passing drizzle. Temperatures will only cool a few degrees for Tuesday with afternoon temperatures in the 80s.
By Wednesday, expect increasing clouds and onshore flow that could bring showers across the area. A stronger cold front will sweep through Southeast Texas on Thanksgiving Day bringing overcast skies and scattered drizzle. As temperatures will start out in the 70s, temperatures will cool through the day. In Houston, Thanksgiving evening temperatures could drop into the low 60s and 50s by midnight. If you are heading out for Black Friday shopping, morning temperatures will likely be chilly.
For the next seven days, expect gradual warming with pleasant weather to stick around for much of the weekend. Morning temperatures will be chill with afternoon temperatures in the 70s. By next week, two cold fronts will sweep through southeast Texas keeping temperatures on the cooler side. By Thanksgiving Day, a stronger cold front will make it's way through the area bringing overcast skies and scattered drizzle.
