HOUSTON — After starting with showers across the are this morning expect isolated storms this afternoon. There is a weather impact alert for the area from 2PM through 5PM.
Daytime heating and the afternoon sea breeze will help energize afternoon storms. Weather Impact Alert shifted 2PM-5PM ... Maybe lasting through 6PM... But then storms leaving tonight. Heavy downpours, gusty wind and lightning possible this afternoon. With lightning present in the storms that will make it dangerous for anyone to be outside if lightning is present.

Between 2PM through 5 p.m. is when storms are most likely. Heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty wind are likely with these storms, which means travel on area roadways with reduced visibility and ponding on roadways will impact travel and commuters.
Starting tomorrow through next week most of the rain is out with temperatures building back to the mid 90s.

Residents are urged to take precautions with their recovery efforts.
The good news is that activity in the tropics have calmed down significantly. No new storms are expected in the next 7 days and conditions are expected to remain quiet over the next few weeks.
Your 7-day forecast rain chances do slightly start to creep back into the outlook by Friday and Saturday. Not too big of a deal, about a 30% chance. We are not expecting severe weather out of this, but notice how long this heat sticks around. We'll be talking mid to low 90s for the rest of the week.
