HOUSTON — It's uncommon, but not unheard of, to have low pressure form over the Gulf in April.
Both the American and European models are suggesting that low pressure will form over the north central Gulf next week, in the Tuesday to Thursday timeframe.
The low takes shape Monday and Tuesday in the northwest Gulf. This would give Houston/Galveston a northeast breeze and a 30% rain chance.
The low moves into the north central Gulf on Wednesday and a dry northerly surface flow should clear things out for us.
By Thursday the low moves further east, bringing higher rain chances to New Orleans and the Florida coast.
These early season lows are usually broad, hybrid systems that produce gusty winds and widespread rain. Exactly where these impacts may be felt is still uncertain.
Our Easter weekend weather looks beautiful, but stay close to the forecast, and stay weather smart with us over the coming days.
