It's a clear and chilly start to our week. Temperatures out the door this morning are in the lower 40s and upper 30s. Although sunny today it will remain on the chilly side.
Our next storm system is a complex one and will arrive Tuesday. There is a growing threat for strong to severe thunderstorms by late morning through the afternoon.
The Storm Prediction Center has increased its severe threat, especially for areas south of I-10.
While this threat is conditional due to marginal ingredients, anything that does become severe could lead to a significant tornado and damaging wind threat.
Wind and rain will be the most widespread impact on the area. Several inches of rain are possible, leading to a flash flood risk by the afternoon.
Winds will be very strong as well, gusting to near 40 mph at times, even outside of any thunderstorms.
Behind this front, temperatures will remain at or below normal for much of the remainder of January. High temperatures beyond Tuesday will start in the 50s and end up in the 60s by next weekend.
