LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas -- The water continues to rise in Liberty County.
As of Monday, the Trinity River is just a few feet beneath bridges in Liberty County. Officials declared a local disaster due to the continued flooding threats along the Trinity River.
Air 11 was over the scene of the flooding and damage at Highway 90 and FM 1413 in Liberty County just east of Cedar Bayou this weekend where almost everything was completely underwater. Some people were forced to use canoes to get around, and several cars were flooded up to their tops as well.
As of Monday evening, Trinity River water was at 28.1 feet. Officials are concerned that in the coming days, that number will rise, especially as more water gets released from the Livingston Dam.
One local rancher is concerned about the welfare of some of her animals
"Probably about 15 dogs we'll have to move out," said Sherry Cowan, a rancher. "On this end, when the water starts rising, we'll have to get them out if it gets too deep. It makes you nervous, but it's really nothing you can do. You just prepare as much as you can and hope for the best."
