Waking up to a blanket of fog over the city this morning makes for a gloomy start to 2019 but the forecast and the air quality will continue to improve.
If you have a respiratory illness, asthma, emphysema or are more sensitive to higher ozone particles, it may be a good idea to stay in doors up until about lunch time. The fog (clouds) helped to trap some of the fireworks, gun smoke and regular pollutants overnight and that is why the air quality is starting off unusually poor.
However, as the clouds break and the winds pick up that will naturally help to mix some of that out.
This shouldn't be an issue for the rest of the week as heavy rain is expected Wednesday into Thursday. So the poor air quality should only impact your morning.
