Royal Caribbean to raise gratuity rates on its cruises next month

Beginning Nov. 1, 2024, the company is raising its automatic gratuity rate on cruises by 50 cents a person.

GALVESTON, Texas — Royal Caribbean guests will soon be paying more for their daily gratuity.

Beginning Nov. 1, 2024, the company is raising its automatic gratuity rate on cruises by 50 cents a person.

For suite passengers, this means the recommended rate will be $21 a day. For non-suite passengers, that rate will increase to $18.50.

According to the Royal Caribbean website, gratuities are distributed among crew members, including in dining, bar, culinary and hotel services, stateroom attendants as well as others "onboard who work to enhance the overall cruise experience."

The website states that guests who choose not to prepay gratuities at the time of booking will have a service gratuity automatically applied to their respective SeaPass® account on a daily basis.
