New casino and resort opening near Broken Bow Lake in Oklahoma this spring

Choctaw Landing be the fourth casino and resort for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, which is based in Durant.

OKLAHOMA, USA — There will soon be a new casino and resort in an area of Oklahoma popular with North Texas visitors.

The $238 million, 100-bed Choctaw Landing resort and casino in Hochatown is expected to open in May. It’ll be the fourth casino and resort for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, which is based in Durant.

The Hochatown casino and resort is off Highway 259, about a three-hour drive from Dallas and about two hours east of the Choctaw Nation’s flagship casino and resort in Durant.

“We will have a soft opening in early April, with all resort services, including conference services, pool opening, and concert and cultural entertainment starting later this spring,” a spokesperson for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma told WFAA of the Hochatown plans.

The resort and casino will feature 100 rooms, 600 slot machines, a fitness center, pool, three conference rooms, an outdoor amphitheater with seating for about 125, small grocery store, a Starbucks and more.

Hochatown is a resort area near Broken Bow Lake in McCurtain County, Oklahoma, was first settled in 1800s and was just incorporated as a municipality in 2022.

It’s become a bit of a destination, too. According to the New York Times there were more than 2,400 cabins for rent in Hochatown on Airbnb in November 2023, a 413% increase in five years, according to AirDNA, which tracks Airbnb data.

The Choctaw Nation’s also invested $7 million for road construction at the Choctaw Landing intersection and is working to make stormwater and utility improvements and more.
