Hobby Airport to pause arrivals, departures to make repairs to runway

Airport officials report that one of their runways must be shut down for a necessary repair at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Nearly 2 million people are set to go through Bush and Hobby Airports for a July 4 travel surge that will shatter previous records for holiday traffic.

HOUSTON — Heads up for air travelers heading to Hobby Airport this morning.

Airport officials report that one of their runways must be shut down for a necessary repair at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

While the repair should only take an hour, the airport will pause all arriving and departing flights during that time.

This latest delay for air travelers as airport officials warn those who are picking up travelers could encounter delays getting to the airport due to street closures, debris on roads, and streetlights that are working.

Both Hobby and Bush Intercontinental Airport experienced storm-related staff shortages following Hurricane Beryl.

Many flights were canceled or delayed on Monday and Tuesday so check with your airline before you head to the airport.
