HOUSTON — At least one person has died following a two-vehicle crash on I-45/North Freeway in north Houston.
The crash occurred at about 5:15 a.m. Monday in the northbound/outbound lanes near N. Shepherd.
As of 7:10 a.m. the freeway was still shut down with all traffic forced to the frontage road, causing a backup in the mainlanes of about five miles.
Southbound traffic was also slow in the area due to rubbernecking.
The crash investigation and cleanup lasted until just after 8 a.m. But even with the roadway reopened, the delays will last the rest of the morning rush hour commute.
