HOUSTON — The North Freeway is shut down heading inbound near downtown Thursday morning due to a deadly wrong-way crash, according to the Houston Police Department.

According to Houston TranStar, this happened just after 2:30 a.m. near North Main Street. All main lanes are closed.

The crash appears to involve two vehicles. Video from the scene shows heavy damage to both front ends of the vehicles involved. One vehicle appears to have also rolled over.

Drivers coming from Spring and The Woodlands can use the Hardy Toll Road to avoid the North Freeway heading south. From there, connect to the Eastex Freeway via the 610 North Loop to reach downtown.

Depending on your starting point, roads like North Shepherd Drive or Fulton Street may offer routes into downtown, though be prepared for potential congestion as traffic diverts from the freeway.
