Mustang split in half in crash along Southwest Freeway feeder road

Officials said the driver might have been speeding when they lost control and hit a pole.

HOUSTON — Two people were hospitalized after a crash on the southwest side on Friday.

According to authorities, a person driving a Ford Mustang might have been speeding when they tried to switch lanes and lost control in the northbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway feeder road near Fondren Road around 1 p.m.

The car then hit a concrete pole and split in half. Air 11 video showed car parts strewn all over the road and surrounding areas.

The driver was taken to an area hospital and was reportedly stable while the passenger was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Officials said no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
