HOUSTON — You may want to think twice if you plan on traveling through the Galleria area this weekend -- or at least carefully plan your route.
The southbound lanes of 610/West Loop at I-69/Southwest Freeway will be closed starting at 9 p.m. Friday and won't reopen until 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11.
The Texas Department of Transportation said to expect delays.
Alternate route
- Take the West Loop connector to the I-69/Southwest Freeway northbound lanes
- Take the Weslayan Street exit and make a U-turn at Weslayan Street onto the I-69/Southwest Freeway southbound frontage road.
- Take the next entrance ramp onto I-69/Southwest Freeway southbound lanes.
- Take the connector to the West Loop southbound lanes.
The construction is part of the I-610 West Loop/I-69 Southwest Freeway interchange project. The $259 million project is expected to significantly enhance safety and improve mobility by widening the connector ramps to two lanes, increasing sight distances, and providing remedies to eliminate weaving.
The project is anticipated to be completed later this year.
