The I-45 North Freeway is shut down heading inbound near downtown due to a deadly auto-pedestrian crash Friday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.
According to Houston Transtar, this happened just 3 a.m. a.m. near North Main Street.
Houston police said a man was walking on the outside shoulder of the main lanes when he was hit by another man in a car on his way to work. The driver told police that the pedestrian stepped out onto the freeway.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.
The main lanes are expected to be closed through part of the morning rush hours. KHOU 11 traffic expert Jennifer Reyna recommends using the Eastex Freeway or the 610 Loop to Airline as alternate routes.
