Fight leads to deadly rollover crash on Highway 288, Houston police say

During the rollover, one of the children, who was just 3, hit her head and later died at the hospital, police said.

HOUSTON, Minn. — Highway 288 just south of downtown reopened early Monday after a deadly rollover crash had the freeway shut down for hours, according to the Houston Police Department.

It happened just before midnight heading north near the interchange with the Southwest Freeway.

Houston police said six children were in the car when the driver got into a fight with her husband.

The husband grabbed the wheel and his wife lost control of the SUV, police said. The SUV hit a retaining wall and then rolled over.

During the rollover, one of the children, who was just 3, hit her head and later died at the hospital, police said. Two other children were in critical condition and three others were hospitalized.

The woman was also transported to the hospital while her husband was not injured in the crash.

Police are investigating the crash to decide if charges will be filed.
