HUMBLE, Texas — At least six people were injured following a crash on the Eastex Freeway near Rankin Rd. that shut down the southbound lanes for several hours on Sunday.
Both the Houston and Humble Police Departments said those injured in the crash were transported to the hospital, but don't have an update on their conditions at this time. Another person was reported to be trapped in the crash.
The freeway was shut down for more than three hours before being fully cleared after 1:30 p.m.
The crash happened just before 9:30 a.m. Sunday on the southbound lanes of the Eastex Freeway. A big rig and at least four other vehicles were involved in the accident that backed traffic up to FM 1960 for hours.
Police have not said what the cause of the crash was. We'll provide additional updates when we get more information.
