BROOKSHIRE, Texas – One of two people killed in a head-on crash on I-10 in Brookshire has been identified as a Houston firefighter.
Authorities say 43-year-old Jason Hamilton, a 12-year veteran with the Houston Fire Department, died in the Friday morning crash. HFD officials say Hamilton leaves behind his wife of 25 years and two sons ages 9 and 17. Hamilton was off duty at the time of the crash, according to authorities.
Officials say a driver went over the median from an access road into the westbound I-10 mainlanes. Views from Air 11 showed an SUV and a pickup truck collided in the crash.
A medical helicopter was called to the scene after reports of serious injuries. I-10 was shut down for several hours but has since reopened.
