KEMAH, Texas — Rush hour drivers south of Houston may run into trouble because Highway 146 in Kemah is closed in both directions, the Kemah Police Department said.
Kemah Fire Chief Robert Suniga said crews were installing a utility pole when they struck a two-inch gas line.
He said there's no danger to the public but both sides of 146 between Bel Road and Highway 96/League City Parkway are closed while the gas line is repaired.
The Kemah Police Department is advising drivers to avoid the area.
Suniga said they hope to reopen 146 by 5 p.m. but traffic could be backed up for a while.
