Eastex Freeway reopens heading inbound near Grand Parkway following crash involving 2 big rigs, DPS says

There is also a hazmat spill at the scene that crews are working to clean up.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — The Eastex Freeway has reopened heading inbound following a crash involving two 18-wheelers early Friday morning, according to Houston Transtar.

This happened just before 12:30 a.m. near the Grand Parkway.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, there was a stalled 18-wheeler on the roadway heading south near Roman Forest Boulevard. At some point, a second 18-wheeler rear-ended the first one.

The freeway started to reopen around 9 a.m. with at least one lane still blocked.

The driver of the second big rig was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition. There is also a hazmat spill at the scene that crews are working to clean up.

KHOU 11 traffic expert Jennifer Reyna said drivers can use the feeder road or Loop 494 as an alternate route.
