Head-on crash leaves two dead, police say

Police say they are unsure if either driver was intoxicated.

HOUSTON — Two people were killed as a result of a head-on crash in southeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

The crash happened around 1:48 a.m. Wednesday morning near 9600 Galveston Road.

Police say that roadway evidence indicates the driver of a red pickup crossed the center line and hit a silver sedan head-on.

Both drivers were pronounced dead on scene, according to police.

The driver of the silver sedan has been identified as a man, but no description of the pickup driver has been released.

Police say they are unsure why the pickup crossed into oncoming traffic.

Police also say it's unclear if either driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
