A major crash has closed the northbound feeder road of Grand Parkway at East Riverpark Drive in Sugar Land.
The two-vehicle crash happened just after 4 p.m.
Sugar Land police said seven people were involved in the crash. Two people were flown to a hospital where one died. The other person is in critical condition. Three other people were taken to a hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The other two people did not want to be treated.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police said one of the vehicles may have run a red light. There were no signs of intoxication, police said.
Police said traffic on Highway 99 heading north is being moved to the tollway.
Drivers should avoid the area for several hours as police investigate and crews work to clean up the wreckage.
