What are the viewing conditions for the Orionid Meteor Shower this weekend?

HOUSTON — While much of our Saturday will bring plenty of sunshine, tropical moisture is advancing on us and that means cloud cover will be building in Southeast Texas.

Not the best news for stargazers hoping to catch the Orionid Meteor Shower, which peaks this weekend. We'll be mostly cloudy once the sun goes down.

The best time to catch the meteor shower, which could bring up to 10-20 meteors per hour, is actually after midnight but at that point, cloud cover looks fairly thick.

Not to worry! Even though the meteor shower is at its peak this weekend it'll still be going on through November 22.

That means plenty of opportunities to catch the Orionid meteor shower, which is produced by the debris field left behind by Halley's Comet. Look up at the sky on a clear night to see it until Thanksgiving!
