Among the players considered this year is former Houston Astro Jeff Bagwell. It is the seventh year in which Bagwell has appeared on the ballot.

Last year, the former National League MVP, four-time All-Star and the Astros' all-time leader in home runs and RBI, was on 315 of last year's 440 ballots (71.6 percent).

Bagwell would be the second Astro enshrined in Cooperstown behind Craig Biggio, his teammate throughout his 15 years in Major League Baseball. Biggio was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015.
