Texas A&M, Oklahoma State fans take over Houston ahead of TaxAct Texas Bowl

The Texas A&M Aggies will be facing off against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Wednesday night at NRG Stadium.

HOUSTON — Many college football fans made their way to Houston Tuesday in preparation for the TaxAct Texas Bowl.

The Texas A&M Aggies will be facing off against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Wednesday night at NRG Stadium in Houston.

Hundreds of people traveled from all over the state, and many from out of state, just for this game.

“We are from El Reno, Oklahoma,” said Geoff Eaton an OSU fan.

“Super excited. Houston is a great place," said Holly Eaton. "The weather is much warmer than Oklahoma. We were happy to drive past two Buc-ee’s and stop at both of them -- supporting the Texas economy."

The Eaton’s are Oklahoma State alumni and said they couldn’t pass the opportunity to see their team play in a bowl game.

“We are both alumni from Oklahoma State and we both promised our 10-year-old if we were in a bowl game we would go, and we are here to support the Cowboys," Geoff said.

Texas A&M fans from across the state also made the trip. One family we spoke with drove four hours to share this special experience with their kids.

“We are really excited," said Katie Carpenter an A&M Alumni. "This will be all of our first time at an NFL stadium."

It’s a chance for the Carpenter’s son to see what he hopes one day will be his team.

“He has played football since I went to A&M," Carpenter said. "That has been his dream since he was small. He wants to go to A&M to play football."

As for the winners for Wednesday, well each fanbase has its own prediction.

“I think we are going to win,” said Carpenter.

“I am going to go with 42 to 35 Oklahoma State," Geoff said. "We will see."

This week is great practice for the City of Houston because, in less than two weeks, Houston will be hosting the College Football National Championship game.

Tuesday, the city held a free concert for A&M and OSU fans at The Rustic's downtown location. Several country artists were in attendance.

There will be more events on Wednesday before the big game. Kickoff is at 8 p.m.
