Simone Biles isn’t the only one who will be doing something new after the Rio Olympics.
Aimee Boorman, Biles’ longtime coach, has been hired as executive director of women’s gymnastics and elite coordinator at EVO Athletics in Sarasota, Fla. It means a move from Houston, where Boorman has coached since college.
“My vision for what a gymnastics facility should be is reflected in EVO,” Boorman said in a statement. “Not only having world-class equipment and staff, but the dedication to exceeding the needs of all members of the EVO family, athletes, their families’ coaches and staff while providing a platform for developing young athletes to reach their great potential.”
Boorman is to be introduced at the facility Tuesday. The move comes just a week after the conclusion of the Rio Games, where Boorman was head coach of the U.S. women’s team that won a record nine medals.

“We want to have a staff as amazing as our facility,” said Jason Collins, co-founder and chief athletics officer at EVO. “There is no other coach in the country, or the world for that matter, other than Aimee that meets our vision so perfectly.”
What Boorman's move means for Biles is not certain. The 19-year-old hasn’t ruled out a return for the Tokyo Games in 2020, and Boorman has coached the Olympic champion since she began gymnastics. But Biles’ family opened the World Champions Centre in suburban Houston last year.
No decision will have to be made immediately, however. Biles has said repeatedly she is going to take some time off and enjoy the perks that come with being a four-time Olympic champion. She and fellow Final Fivers Aly Raisman, Laurie Hernandez and Madison Kocian were presenters at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sunday night, and the entire squad will be part of a 36-city tour beginning Sept. 15.
Other commercial opportunities are sure to be coming following her success in Rio. In addition to her all-around title and the team gold with the Final Five, she claimed gold on floor exercise and vault, and was the bronze medalist on balance beam.
Biles also has won the all-around titles at the last three world championships, and her 10 overall golds, all since 2013, are a record for a female gymnast.
