The Patriots will celebrate their Super Bowl LI win on Wednesday at The White House without quarterback Tom Brady.

Brady told ESPN in a statement Wednesday morning that he was "attending to some personal family matters" and would miss the ceremony honoring the team.

Brady also thanked President Donald Trump for hosting the celebration and for "supporting our team for as long as I can remember."

It's safe to say the Patriots wouldn't be celebrating on the South Lawn without Brady's Super Bowl heroics. He engineered their comeback against the Falcons, leading them from a 28-3 deficit to a 34-28 overtime win. Brady went 43 for 62 with 466 yards, two touchdowns and an interception on the way to his fifth Super Bowl championship.
