J.J. Watt has done it again.
The Houston Texans' superstar defensive end was named the Sporting News Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.
Watt narrowly edged out Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly for the award, 116-113, according to the Sporting News.
In his fifth season in the league, Watt recorded 17.5 sacks, 57 total tackles and eight pass deflections.
He had three fewer sacks this season, but still led the NFL.
Per the Sporting News:
Watt was still the most dominant defensive player in the NFL, and the players, coaches and executives acknowledged it by voting him the Sporting News Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season.…
Watt once again wreaked havoc not only on offenses, but on offensive game plans and on play calls and blocking schemes on every snap.
NFL awards, including the AP Defensive Player of the Year, will be announced in February.
