NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Houston Texans knocked off the Titans, 19-16, Sunday on a last-second field goal in overtime. Tennessee took the loss while they were donning their Oilers throwback uniforms. With the win, former Texans’ star JJ Watt thinks the Columbia blue unis should return to Houston.

As you probably know, the Houston Oilers moved to Tennessee from Houston in 1997 and eventually became the Tennessee Titans. Sunday was the second time the Titans wore the Oilers throwback uniforms this season.

Watt posted to X shortly after the Sunday’s game, saying “We get the uniforms back. That’s how this works, I don’t make the rules."

While that probably won't happen, Watt got plenty of reaction to his post.

KHOU 11’s Jason Bristol took to social media right after Watt’s post.

Others chimed in their support.

Watt has talked before about how much the old Oilers’ uniforms meant to the city. On his appearance on the Pat McAfee show in October, he addressed the Titans’ throwbacks.

“I lived and played in Houston,” Watt said on the show. “I wanted to wear those uniforms very badly. They have such a massive history and tradition of 'Luv Ya Blue' with Bum Phillips and everything that went on there.”

He said he had a simple solution.

“The winner of that game (Houston vs. Tennessee) should get the uniforms,” he said.

Not everyone was in agreement that the throwbacks belong in Houston.
