HOUSTON — The Houston Texans will need all the firepower they can get when the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions come to town Sunday night. And on Friday, we learned they could have one key weapon back.
Wide receiver Nico Collins, the NFL’s leading receiver when he went down with a hamstring injury against Buffalo in early October, will be back from the injured list. When the team's injury report came out Friday afternoon, he was listed as questionable.
So far this season, Collins has 32 catches for 567 yards and three touchdowns. His potential return could be just what the Texans need against a Lions team that has allowed more than 357 yards per game, including 250 through the air.
While the Lions are one of the more generous teams when it comes to yards allowed, they’re one of the stingiest teams when it comes to points, allowing 18.5 of them per game so far this season. That’s fifth-best in the NFL.
Collins would fill a big void left in the teams’ receiving unit with Stefon Diggs out for the season with a torn ACL.
While the Nico news is a positive, there is some negative Texans news. Will Anderson Jr. is out for the game, as is Dameon Pierce.
From a post on the Houston Texans' X account, Collins looks excited to help quarterback CJ Stroud and the Texans offense.
The Texans come into Sunday night’s game 6-3 and atop the AFC South. The Lions are 7-1 and lead the NFC North.
