HOUSTON — The Houston Texans knocked off Cleveland, 45-14, to move on to the divisional round of the NFL playoffs Saturday. So who will Houston play next?
The picture got a little more clear after the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Miami Dolphins in the night game. It now all comes down to the Pittsburgh vs. Buffalo game on Monday, which you can see on KHOU 11 with coverage beginning at 3:30 p.m.
In the divisional round, the No. 1 seed -- Baltimore -- plays the lowest seed left. There two scenarios left for Houston's next opponent. Kansas City's 26-7 win over Miami Saturday night not only eliminated the Dolphins. It also eliminated the only chance the Texans had to play their next playoff game at NRG Stadium.
So here's where we stand.
Houston will play at Kansas City if...
The Texans would play at Arrowhead Stadium if the Steelers beat Buffalo on Monday. That's because Kansas City is a higher seed than Houston. If that happens, Houston would play at KC and Pittsburgh would play at Baltimore.
This would be the seeding:
- Baltimore
- Kansas City
- Houston
- Pittsburgh
Houston will play at Baltimore if...
The Texans would play at Baltimore if Buffalo beats Pittsburgh on Monday night. If that happens, the AFC playoffs would come down to Houston vs. Baltimore and Kansas City at Buffalo.
This would be the seedings in that scenario:
- Baltimore
- Buffalo
- Kansas City
- Houston
There's not a possibility of the Texans taking on either the Steelers and Bills, the two teams that face off on Monday. That's because Pittsburgh is the lowest seed left and if they make it past Buffalo, it eliminates the Bills and means Pittsburgh plays Baltimore.
Editor's note: This page was updated after Kansas City's win over Miami Saturday night to remove the two scenarios that were eliminated.
