LAS VEGAS — Anyone who wants to see Super Bowl XVIII in person will have to spend a small fortune. Prices are so high that even the rich and famous are hesitating.
In fact, the big game in Las Vegas is shaping up to be the most expensive in history, according to CBS Sports.
The "cheap seats" will set you back more than $8,100 while the average ticket is selling for $9,800. That's a whopping 70% higher than last year.
If you want the suite life, you might have to sell your house or use your kid's college fund.
For a mere $300,000, four people can watch the Chiefs and 49ers in a small suite with comfy chairs, according to The Suite Experience. But that price doesn't include their food and drinks.
For the $1.5 million traditional suite, a group of 20 can enjoy a buffet, multiple big screen TVs, a dedicated suite attendant and a private bathroom! Then again, if you've got that much money to spare, you could buy a really nice house and watch the game on your own massive TV from your own expensive couch. No line for the bathroom either!
For the highest of high rollers, a private luxury suite that seats 20 people in the owners' club section will set you back $2.5 million bucks. Gulp.
That's a lot of bank, even for big spenders.
That's probably why Donna Kelce -- the mother of Chiefs TE Travis Kelce if you've been living in a cave -- said she'll probably be in the stands with everybody else.
"You can understand that the boxes in Vegas are multi-million dollars, so I have a feeling I'm not in a box," Donna said on the Today Show. "I have a feeling I'm in the stands. As far as I know, I'm in the stands with everybody else, because it is a pricey Super Bowl.
No word on whether Taylor Swift has forked over the money to watch her boyfriend play from a suite, but it's a pretty safe bet that she won't be in the stands.
When 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey learned his fiancée Olivia Culpo was going to surprise his mom by buying a suite, he put the kubosh on the idea.
"She tried to, but I will not let anybody pay to watch me play," McCaffrey told ExtraTV.
Fortunately, you can watch the Super Bowl from the comfort of your own couch on KHOU 11/CBS at 5:30 p.m. Sunday and it won't cost you a dime.
