FORT BEND COUNTY – Win or lose Sunday, Denver Broncos always look like champions at Bush High School. The team and school are linked by mascot, jewelry and a former NFL linebacker turned football coach.
Allen Aldridge is a head coach with bling.
"My name is on the side (of my ring)," Aldridge said. "Any kind of football event, I'll definitely wear it."
Nineteen years ago, Aldridge helped the Denver Broncos win their first world championship. It was a life-long dream come true for Aldridge. Still, it's a moment he can't fully remember.
"I really don't remember much about (the end of the game and celebration) to be honest with you," he said. "I guess towards the end of the game, I walked over to my sister. I don't know how I saw her. She was at the edge of the stands. I went up to her. I was crying because, you know, it was a huge accomplishment."
These days, Aldridge uses his huge diamond-covered ring to motivate his players at Bush High School. Their mascot is, of course, Broncos and their campus is very much Broncos Country. It should be obvious who Aldridge is cheering for in Super Bowl 50.
"I'd definitely love to see Cam Newton play well," Aldridge said. "(The) Carolina Panthers, I'd love to see them play well. But, I'm a former Bronco. (I) definitely would love to see the Broncos win."
