NRG Park to Texans fans going to Saturday's game: 'Prepare and dress accordingly'

The NRG Stadium retractable roof was damaged in Hurricane Beryl last month and hasn't been repaired.

HOUSTON — The normally climate-controlled NRG Stadium will have some fans watching Saturday’s Texans preseason game out in the elements. That’s because the stadium is still damaged from Hurricane Beryl.

You may remember after the Cat. 1 storm moved through the Houston area last month, Air 11 spotted the damage to the stadium’s retractable roof. The roof is still not repaired, meaning part of the outdoors will get into the indoors if the roof is closed.

NRG Park put out a statement for anyone going to the stadium for events, including the Texans game against the Giants. That game kicks off at noon on Saturday.

Below is that statement.

"At this time, we anticipate that all upcoming events, including Texans games, will proceed as planned despite the roof damage caused by Hurricane Beryl. As guests plan their visit to NRG Stadium, we recommend they stay informed about weather forecasts and prepare and dress accordingly, whether it be for rain, heat, or other conditions. Given the damage to the roof, whether it is open or closed, portions of the stadium floor and seats will be exposed to the elements."

So what will the elements be? According to KHOU 11 Chief Meteorologist David Paul, temps will be about 93 degrees when the game starts and around 98 when it ends. There is about a 20% chance of an isolated thunderstorm.
