AUSTIN, Texas — After winning the Big 12 Tournament title in Kansas City last week, the Texas Longhorns women's basketball team has secured a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
The seeding was made official on Sunday night, as a result of the team's impressive 30-4 regular season record and Big 12 title.
Earning the No. 1 seed means the Moody Center will host games in at least two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, which means the Longhorns will play at least one game at home and two if they're able to advance past their Round of 64 opponent, the No. 16 seed Drexel.
If the Longhorns advance to the Sweet 16 and Elite 8, they would play those games in Portland, Oregon. If they advance to the Women's Final Four and National Championship, those games would be played in Cleveland.
The Longhorns enter the NCAA Tournament as one of the nation's hottest teams, winning 12 of their last 13 games. Despite losing former All-American Rori Harmon earlier in the season, the team found its footing under the leadership of Big 12 Player of the Year Madison Booker and senior standout, Austin native Shay Holle.
