HOUSTON — The injury bug has bitten the Astros hard this season and on Sunday, the team may have suffered another big one.
Yordan Alvarez left the game in the bottom of the third inning with discomfort. It came after he slid into second base.
At this point, it’s not clear how severe the injury is or if Alvarez will need to miss any time.
Houston is in the home stretch of the season, entering the day with a five-game lead over second-place Seattle in the American League West. After Sunday, the Astros have six games left in the regular season.
If Alvarez has to miss time, that’s a big bat out of the lineup for Houston. So far this season, he’s hitting .305 with 35 home runs and 86 RBIs.
