BALTIMORE — A young fan in Baltimore for Friday night’s Astros-Orioles matchup was apparently already a fan of Houston’s Jose Altuve. After the Astros second baseman went deep in the third inning, Altuve became that fan’s “idol plus.”

In a video posted to Major League Baseball’s X social media accounts, Astros broadcaster Julia Morales was interviewing that fan in the stands and found out how it all went down.

Altuve was on deck and the young fan said he was calling out to him, asking if he could have the bat if Altuve hit a home run.

“The second pitch he hit a home run right to right field and right after, he called me into the dugout and gave me the bat,” the fan said. “He’s my idol plus. It was my favorite thing of my life.”
