HOUSTON — Congratulations to Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker on his first American League Silver Slugger Award.
The Louisville Slugger Silver Slugger Awards honor the best offensive producers at each position in both the American and National Leagues.
"King Tuck," as Astros fans call him, led the American League with a career-high 112 RBI. He hit .284 with 29 home runs, 37 doubles and 97 runs scored. He also stole 30 bases, had 80 walks and an .886 OPS in 157 games.
Among AL outfielders, Tucker, 26, ranked first in OPS, first in walks, fourth in home runs and tied for fourth in doubles.
The second-year All-Star became the third player in Astros history to lead the league in RBI. Lance Berkman had 128 in 2002 and Jeff Bagwell had 116 in 1994.
The Astros now have 14 Silver Slugger Award winners. Tucker joins Jose Altuve (2014-18, 2022), Yordan Alvarez (2022), Alex Bregman (2019), George Springer (2017, 2019), Carlos Lee (2007), Morgan Ensberg (2005), Mike Hampton (1999), Moises Alou (1998), Jeff Bagwell (1994, 1997, 1999), Craig Biggio (catcher in 1989, second baseman in 1994-95, 1997-98), Glenn Davis (1986), José Cruz (1983-84) and Dickie Thon (1983).
The other AL outfielders named Silver Slugger Award winners are Luis Robert Jr. with the Chicago White Sox and Julio Rodríguez with the Seattle Mariners.
Heart & Hustle Award
