HOUSTON — Jose Abreu has been with the Astros all season, and now, the slugging first baseman is finally getting a taste of a Texas road trip staple.
While coming back from Arlington after the Astros knocked off the Rangers in three straight games to take control of the ALCS, Abreu stopped at a Buc-ee's.
A photo was first tweeted by HTown Wheelhouse of LockedOn Astros from the Buc-ee's in Ennis on Friday night. The Buc-ee's stop was also confirmed in the Astros news conference before Game 6 Sunday.
Abreu was asked about what he thought about Buc-ees.
“I was expecting that when I was driving on my way back here and I wanted my kid to see something different,” Abreu said. “The sandwiches there are really good.”
Abreu told KHOU 11 photojournalist Sergio Soto that it was his first time at a Buc-ee's. He also commented about how crowded it was.
